21 SJB medical students participate in the recent medical mission to La Esperanza, Honduras. Working side be side with twelve 3rd and 4th year medical students from the University of Toledo, they represented SJB in an outstanding manner and served as goodwill ambassadors of Puerto Rico. Together, our medical team of 73 doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, and other allied health professionals worked with the Lions Club to provide medical care to 3,325 indigent patients in their rural mountain villages. Students were involved in direct patient care in the triage, clinic, dental, and pharmacy stations. They presented tropical medicine topics to their fellow health care students. They also helped in the distribution of 250 water filters and in the health education of 30 village health promoters.
