The Obstetrics and Gynecology clerkship provides medical students with a formal introduction to women’s health issues. Students will have an outstanding hands- on learning experience that promote the acquisition of a basic set of clinical and technical skills related to women’s health and the three main areas of the specialty: Obstetrics, Gynecology and Office Practice. During the clerkship, medical students will participate in the health care to diverse groups of women across all stages of reproductive health lifespan, with an emphasis on disease prevention and providing continuity of care. Students typically rotate through different obstetric and gynecologic settings including office practice. Students are assigned to outpatient clinics, inpatient settings as well as a full experience in the labor and delivery unit and operating room. The Faculty of the Ob-Gyn Department consists of Private Ob-Gyns in practice and Academic Board-certified faculty at the San Juan City Hospital Ob-Gyn Residency Program. Our faculty is committed to provide medical students with learning encounters and to promote clinical research.
